Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is a rapidly growing addition to health and fitness routines, and an effective complement to other health care services. Many people seek therapeutic massage as a natural means to promote healthy body functioning, and to enhance the body's own restorative powers.

The most common reasons for getting a massage are:
  • General Relaxation
  • Revitalization
  • Relieve Sore or Tight Muscles
  • Relieve Tension Headaches
  • Recover from Sports Activities
  • General Health and Fitness
  • Improve Circulation
  • Complement Other Health Care

Most important is that therapeutic massage is an age-old remedy which has proven to be an effective complement to Chiropractic care. Problems in the muscular-skeletal system can impede the natural healing process, and often cause dysfunction and pain. Most chiropractors would agree that it is important to treat soft tissue such as muscles and tendons to help prevent and correct subluxation, and lessen the accompanying pain.

Together, chiropractic and massage provide you with a more complete and effective system of health care.

Massage Therapist, Shannon
Meet Shannon Halpin, LMP

With a background in psychology and social work, I began practicing bodywork in order to learn more about the connection between psycho-emotional and physical well-being. I very quickly fell in love with the study of biomechanics and principles of physiological health in the human body. Today my massage is focused on improving function of the musculoskeletal system while educating my clients on the important role that the psyche plays in body’s ability to achieve a greater state of health.

As a graduate of Seattle’s Cortiva Institute of Massage I have a strong foundation in neuromuscular, myofascial, injury treatment and structural massage. I employ a whole-body approach that addresses not only areas of primary dysfunction, but also other areas in the body that will support the healing and vitality of the entire system. My goals for my clients are to help them move with ease and energy, reduce discomfort and limitation, and experience themselves more fully and actively in their bodies. I believe in the human body’s ability to transform itself toward a more positive state of being and I see my role as a facilitator of this therapeutic change.

I am excited to be a part of the fantastic team of healthcare practitioners at Penaluna Chiropractic Studio and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you! Your questions are welcome, please email me at shannon@penalunachiropractic.com.

Dr. Penaluna Asks some important questions of interest to Seattle residents - Chiropractor Seattle Dr. Penaluna Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Can subluxations clear up on their own?
Sometimes. Today's hectic lifestyles can be a constant source of subluxations. Fortunately, our bodies have the ability to self-correct many of these minor problems as we bend and stretch, or when we sleep at night. When subluxations don't resolve, you need to see our Seattle office for chiropractic care!
